NICKNAMED “THE CHAMPIONS CLIMBING” the “IBF/AFRICA Mount Kilimanjaro Climb Expedition 2013” will be led by the “IBF international Light Heavyweight King”, the Hurricane Harry Simon from Namibia who has a real cause to fulfill. The cause is not a small one for the 41 years old budging “IBF International Light Heavyweight “King”. For Hurricane Harry Simon struggling is his middle name.
Growing up in Malvis Bay arguably Namibian’s tourism Paradise, Hurricane Harry Simon is known to favors promoting tourism and his beloved country of Namibia. He love his country. In fact he adores Namibia to the point that he can do anything to promote its name.
This time around, Hurricane Harry Simon has a gigantic task to lead other boxing champions and take both the flag of their countries and IBF on top of the world’s highest freestanding mountain, the Kilimanjaro which is regarded as the “Roof of Africa” standing at 19 ,314 feet above the sea level.
This is inline with the IBF/Africa’s pet project known as “IBF Sports Tourism” which began in 2011 and was lead by Godfrey Madaraka Nyerere, the son of the founding father of Tanganyika and the first President of Tanzania, Mwl. Julius K. Nyerere. Madaraka lead a group of 25 climbers and took the flag of IBF on the “Roof of Africa”. He also inscribed the name of IBF on the rock at the highest peak, “K ibo”.
The first Namibian to climb Mount Kilimanjaro is the founding father of the Namibian nation H.E. Sam Nujoma when he hoisted the flag of SWAPO on the “Roof of Africa” during the liberation struggles of then South West Africa now Namibia.
Already, IBF/Africa has appointed Sports for Life Promotion s company to market the event through VoxAfrica Media Group which will feed the 6 days event to other television stations in Africa, Middle East, Arabian and Persian Gulf, Europe, USA, South East Asia , South America, Latin America, Asian Pacific and Australasia.
The UK based Mr. Daniel Lutaaya one of the Directors of Sports for Life would coordinate media platform in Africa and Europe and get other climbers who will join the boxers in their attempt to climb the giant mountain which is revered by many a climbers. Similarly, Kamal Sabuni, the MD of Sports for Life would coordinate the communication network for the climbers and sponsors. IBF/Africa is currently negotiating with the US based Empire Sports Promotions & Entertainments company of the USA to streamline the event to million of USA homes.
Special telephone lines would be dedicated to the climbers and sponsors who will be requested to sponsors the climbers as they successfully reach each one of the six stations.
Marketing the event to various countries, the President of IBF Africa, Middle East, Arabian and Persian Gulf Onesmo Alfred McBride Ngowi explained how important this event would have to the climbers and the boxing fraternity in general. Boxing is both a heroes and heroines sport so, this expedition will prove the boxers resilience towards hardship. Climbing that mountain is an attempt that need great resilience. Ngowi is encouraging many boxers to join this important expedition.
Ngowi said that the money realized from the expedition will be donated to community social projects i.e. education, health, environment and sports equipment in every champion’s countries.
Joining Hurricane Simon would be IBF boxing luminaries in continental Africa , AMEPG, International and Intercontinental champions to this grand champions expedition.
The IBF Africa President is requesting s local and international ssponsors to come out in large number and sponsor this important event that has a far reaching impact beyond the boxing fraternity.
