Heath Sector Need to Update Medical Education

THE health sector through the ministry of health and social welfare is argued collaborate and set up a long term partnership with the private health sector to update medical education to the medical personnel in Tanzania as a starting point of fighting the lack of professionals and skilled doctor .
Speaking to press during the medical training on the laboratory examinations facilities and other medical equipment which organized by TMJ Hospital, the Managing Director for TMJ Hospital Dr. Tayabal Jefferji said the government is now facing big challenges on medicals technological development as many technical facilities are changing accordingly.
“I started to work as a professional doctor since 1972 when the development we can see today was very low and local, since then, the practical studies were done by using very local facilities which are useless today which is resulting at lack of skilled and professional doctors and medical facilities that can be used to investigate the patients and treat” said Dr Jefferji adding that many governments of the developing countries gets big costs by sending their people to the other countries for treatment due to the lack of either skilled doctors to work on the such patients or lack of medical equipments or professional doctors to who are able to use the newly introduced curing equipments.
On his side, the M.S.,DPS.,FCS consultant surgeon from Apolo Medical Dr Nazir Arab said the government through health sector should not only invest on short trainings and seminars to train doctors on the neo introduce medical facilities and drugs but also should invest on developing the present medical schools and establish more medical schools. “Many medical issues has been changing accordingly due to the highly medical technology development around the world and therefore medical education should be updated as well so as to go hand in hand with medical changing market” said Dr Arab adding that the government is getting in to a big cost on exporting many patients to the foreign countries for treatment something that can be done here. “ we are taking patients to India and other countries because of the medical equipments scarcity and sometimes skilled people to work with such equipments.
One of the participant of the training Dr. Emmanuel Ole , E.N.T surgeon from Muhimbili National Hospital said treatment facilities has been a big challenge to the health sector a specially in government local hospitals and dispensaries as a result of un necessary death and cost to the Tanzanians “ TMJ has done something very interesting to us and the this is a good example of the social institution that despite of being a private sector still it is helping even the government to and the mass of Tanzania to identify where the problem is and what should be done solve it” said Ole.
TMJ hospital has installed the newly medical facilities which has been a big problem in Tanzania such as CT SCANNER, DIGITAL X- RAY and MRI machine (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
