In a recent World Economic Forum report, Tanzania was listed as one of the 13 fastest growing economies in the world. This comes as no surprise with GDP growing around 6-7% each year since 2009. In addition, with GDP projected to grow until 2017, many industries will continue to benefit, including the services sector. This latest edition of the everjobs Tanzania career report was assembled based on data collected from everjobsfor the month of September 2015.
New data from the everjobs Tanzania career report shows that the services industry accounted for the largest number of available job positions in September. Job opportunities in the NGO sector are growing rapidly, followed by Financial Services, and Distribution/Logistics opportunities. Not only are these three categories providing ample employment opportunities, they also seem to be popular among job seekers, receiving almost 40% of applications made. Moreover, the Broadcasting / Music / Film industry was the most popular among job seekers, receiving, 15% of applications made in September.
The financial sector in Tanzania has expanded and become more competitive in recent years. Interestingly, foreign banks are very active in Tanzania, accounting for 48% of total assets in the industry. In addition, the increase in competition has benefited customers, as quality of financial services has increased. “With the projected economic growth, it is likely that this sector will continue to provide many opportunities for job seekers” said Tanzania Country Manager Florens Roell.
The career report also finds that most employment opportunities are located in Dar es Salaam, accounting for 77% of the total. The cities that follow include Arusha and Mwanza.
