AIRTEL Tanzania is pleased to announce the appointment of Frank Filman as IT Director effective July 2013. Filman a Tanzanian national started his stint in Airtel as a Systems Administrator and was later elevated to IT Project Manager. From April 2007 to 2009, he served as IT Manager Airtel Ghana where he played a key role in the smooth launch of the AIRTEL network in Ghana.
In Sept 2009 Filman returned to Tanzania joining the Network Department as Network Services Manager He and his team played a critical role in PS Core Swap of DATA Charging (OCS) implementation which was one of the most successful cross functional project.
He later joined Airtel Business, as Solutions Manager where he led the successful rollouts of Business Solution Unit and managed to accelerate leased line revenue growth up to 100% in Just 12 months. In his 12 years with Airtel, Filman spent two years in Airtel Ghana and over nine years with Airtel Tanzania.
Commenting on the appointment, Sunil Colaso Airtel Tanzania Managing Director said “Filman’s promotion to the role of IT Director is a testament to Airtel Tanzania’s commitment to develop, nurture and

I have grown over the years through training and had an opportunity to hands on experience in Ghana and other countries where Airtel operates; I am excited and look forward to the challenge to provide Tanzania with world class services.
Airtel launched on the job training for its workforce to ensure Airtel staff becomes the best service professionals in Tanzania and Africa as a whole. There has been secondments opportunities that have seen Marketing, Sales, IT,Network Tanzania professionals work for 6 to 18 months in Airtel Africa and India.
