ADMISSIONS TO BASIC CERTIFICATE AND DIPLOMA COURSES IN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT AND BRIDGING COURSES AT GTI, 2014

GTI Centre for Feminist Leadership (GTI CFL) is a gender training institute registered under NACTE to offer courses under National Technical Awards since 2008. It is a subsidiary organization of TGNP Mtandao. GTI offers a diploma course in Gender and Development administered in two stages: 1 year of Basic certificate (NTA level 4); 2 years Ordinary Diploma in Gender and Development (NTA level 5 – 6) (Those who successfully exit after one year get a full certificate award). GTI CFL is pleased to announce admissions to both Basic Certificate and Diploma stages which will begin in April, 2014.

NTA Lev el 4 (Basic certificate)

Target
• Form four leavers who have also attained some training, such as teaching, secretarial, accountancy, drama, art and journalism, cultural studies, teaching, community development or social work
• Holders of National Vocational Award (NVA) level III from VETA.
• Form four leavers who are also taking leadership position in gender/feminist oriented organizing.

Admissions requirements
• Certificate of ordinary level secondary education with at least 4 passes.
• NVA level 3.
• Form four leavers with some training, e.g. teaching, secretarial, accountancy, theatre art and journalism, cultural studies

NTA Levels 5 – 6 (Diploma)

Target
The course targets: Firstly, those who have successfully done the basic certificate and are interested in pursuing a diploma course in gender/feminist studies. Secondly, direct form six leavers who are interested in gender/feminist studies. Thirdly form six leavers who are working in various fields and wish to further their knowledge and skill base in various aspects of gender and feminism and how gender relations impact their fields of specialization.

Admissions requirements
• Basic certificate in Gender and development (NTA level 4).
• Form six leavers.
• Form six leavers with some training in social related field and /or working in various fields in communities

FOUNDATION COURSE

For those students who do not have the required qualifications, GTI has introduced bridging courses at foundation level which will assist them to qualify and enroll for certificate level.
The foundation courses will run for 3 months from June to August, 2014. Applications are invited from candidates with 2 or 3 passes of secondary education examinations.

Fee structure
The fee for Certificate and diploma courses is Tsh 896,000/=per year and fees for the foundation course is Tsh.300, 000/=. This amount is directly payable to the Institute. The cost does not cover meals, accommodation, and upkeep or transport allowances.

Application procedure
Application forms for the course can be obtained from the office of the principal, TGNP Resource Centre, Mabibo or downloaded from the institute website www.gti.ac.tz. Duly filled forms for certificate and diploma courses must reach the office of the principal not later than 30th March 2014 and the foundation course by 15th April 2014.
