FREDY Jordan Ngulwa and George Joel Lukuba from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, topped the GUINNESS® FOOTBALL CHALLENGE leader board for the second time last night as they became the first contestants to do the double. Fighting off tough competition from the other teams from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, the dynamic duo showed even more skill and knowledge and increased their winnings in the not-to-be-missed TV game show phenomenon.
In the first round, Picture Trivia and Free Kick, last week’s winners were closely matched by the Ugandan and Kenyan teams, meaning the first team to leave the show was the new Tanzanian team. Round 2 saw the Ugandan knowledge contestant demonstrate an almost perfect Formation Round with time left on the clock at the end of it. But despite this great start, his partner failed to score any points in Chip the Bin, which had been demonstrated by Marcel Desailly, giving last week’s winning duo the chance to edge ahead. The Ugandan team and Kenyan team faced off in a tiebreak and it was Ugandan team through to the semi final.
The semi final was closely fought with the two teams neck and neck all the way. The 3-3 tie meant the teams faced another tiebreak and it was last week’s winners who were through to the final with the chance to increase their winnings.
The exciting addition of the Guinness® Money Wall in the Final Round puts even more at stake for the winning team. The ultimate test of teamwork, where the contestants must work their way through six targets of different monetary value, but only if the brain and the brawn both deliver.
The Guinness® Money Wall was topped up with the rollover money from last week’s show putting a massive USD60K up for grabs. The brain stormed the round answering all of his questions correctly while his partner put in an impressive performance as well. They played it safe, choosing to stick at USD12K, taking their winnings over the two shows to USD18K and the chance to return for a third time to see if they can win even more cash!
Hosted by Larry Asego and Flavia Tumusiime, the GUINNESS® FOOTBALL CHALLENGE™ TV show celebrates East Africa’s passion for football in the definitive fan test. In each show, contestants face a variety of exciting new challenges as they have to work together showing team-work and knowledge of the game in this definitive but fun fan test – three elimination rounds of knowledge and physical skills games that will lead to the best team each week playing in the Final Round where they can risk it all to win big cash prizes.
Each week, the winning team from the previous show will return to take on three new sets of challengers and see if they have what it takes to win two in a row.
