Shopping for Easter Has Never Been Easier
MAHATMA Gandhi once said, “A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act.” Christians believe, according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. “Even if you’re not Christian, just from being in our culture you know Jesus and resurrection and redemption.”
The church is decorated by vitenge and khanga, traditional clothes made up in the form of butterflies, flowers, banana trees etc. Christian hymns are accompanied by the beating of drums and vigelegele, the high-pitched sounds made by the women. After the Mass, traditional dances are held outside the church until people return to their homes to continue the celebrations with local food and drinks. In some parishes the people remain around the church after Mass and sit in their small Christian communities to continue the celebration by eating and drinking, as ceremonial dances and entertainments continue around them. It is a time to bond and be merry with family and friends. How does one manage to run around and get all they need for this festive holiday? Supplies from drinks, to cutlery, to clothes for themselves and their children so that they can look lovely in front of friends and family? Would one have to run around from shop to shop around the city?
AngazaNkurlu, Kaymu Tanzania’s Head of Marketing explains, “We have launched our Kaymu Easter campaign due to recognition that Easter is a widely celebrated holiday and is a time where families and friends meet up. This means, a lot of shopping. Usually one would have to shop for many different items from different stores but now Kaymu brings everything to you at your doorstep. Be it home appliances, or fashion items, we have it all. Instead of moving around and spending hours in shopping queues and traffic, from the comfort of your bedroom, office or living room, you can order all you need and have it delivered to your home.“ He went on to further say that, “Tanzanians are slowly starting to see the advantages of shopping online especially during big holidays like this because previously, just thinking about the hassle of it all was a headache for most. E-commerce has brought salvation for both buyers and sellers and at great prices too”
A satisfied customer Magdalena Lugo who resides in Tabata insists that “Tanzanians should now wake up and think out of the box. We need to let go of our old and inconvenient ways and quickly react to such opportunities to make our lives easier. I was very worried because I had not even begun to shop for Easter and the entire clan was coming over to my home. I didn’t have nice outfits to put on and neither did my kids. I was so stressed on how we would look. Kaymu was a miracle, I managed to buy each and everything on the same day and when they delivered it to my home I could not believe it. I have no worries now and I believe everybody will be very happy on Easter when they come over to my home. Thank you so much Kaymu. Tanzanians there is nothing to fear, let us wake up my friends”
